About The Band
DC-based jazz guitarist and Towson University professor Jack Waugh has a career that is rapidly on the rise. He has gained over 30,000 followers and fans via social media (@jackwaughmusic) and recently debuted his new americana-jazz fusion trio project: “Jack Waugh’s Americanaland”. He has performed at venues such as the 9:30 Club, the Mid Atlantic Jazz Festival, DROM, Le chat Noir, Pianos, Rockwood Music Hall, and Miracle Theatre, and he graduated with a BFA degree from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in December 2017.
Through his unique compositions and improvisational style, Waugh strives to balance exploration of uncharted sonic territory with honest, uncompromised emotion. He believes that studying an array of genres is key to achieving this. Modern jazz, rock, americana, classical, bluegrass, blues, and pop can all be heard in his individual and ever-changing auditory landscape. For Waugh, his guitar and his voice makeup the bridge that connects and transports emotion to the audience.
Waugh is currently an Adjunct Professor of Jazz Guitar at Towson University’s jazz program.
“I PLAY MUSIC BECAUSE IT’S ABLE TO TRANSCEND SOCIETAL BARRIERS AND TAKE LISTENERS, AS WELL AS MYSELF, TO A PLACE OF UNITY AND INFINITE CONSCIOUSNESS.”
