High on a hill in Historic Ellicott City, sits Emery United Methodist Church where faith, community and history run together as deep as the granite outcropping it is built upon. The services are as inspiring as the light streaming through the glorious sunflower stained glass window. This close knit church family believes Christian faith is revealed through scripture, illuminated by tradition, brought to life in personal experience and confirmed by reason. Built in 1837, it is the fourth oldest Methodist church in continuous use in the county.
Whether you consider yourself a believer, a doubter or a skeptic when it comes to the claims of Jesus Christ and the Bible, or whether you consider yourself a Christian or part of another religious or spiritual tradition, Metanoia Church exists to provide a welcoming environment for all persons to journey toward Jesus Christ. We seek to provide welcoming environments where all persons can explore the teachings and claims of Jesus Christ in community. Our theology and doctrine are consistent with the ancient witness of Christianity.

Dedicated on December 13, 1838, St Paul Church was the only Catholic church between Baltimore and Frederick. The church was built on land acquired from George Ellicott, an early settler in the region. To date, St. Paul Church remains the oldest active parish between Baltimore and Pittsburgh.
